Alpaca weaving room

When I first told my husband Ken, I wanted to go see some alpacas
he thought I had lost it. Then realizing I was serious, he said,
"Call a breeder, and see if we can go visit." I finally
found a local breeder and called. To my surprise and delight, she
said come on over! We went to a breeder right here in our own back
yard. Grass Valley I mean. This was way too easy. There I saw Andrea!
I fell in love with her and her weanling female cria named Patience.
Soon it was time to shear and we wanted to see what that was all
about. We were invited go to Gold Country Alpacas, owned by Sheridan
and Joline Atkinson. Where were expecting to watch. Well there I
was with my white jeans and good shirt on, as my husband and I were
going out to lunch after watching, right? Wrong!!! I was black by
the end of the day because they were short handed and after all,
we did want to learn by doing.
I hadn't had that much fun in a long time. I couldn't believe how
different alpacas look without their fleece. Five years into the
business now, with many crias and friends along the way, we would
like to say, "Thanks for letting us follow you home, Sheridan
and Joline!"
